Wulfurt Point and The Sanctuary Golf Club

Shortly after it opened in 1992, The Sanctuary’s golf course was recognized by Golf Digest as one of the best private courses in the U.S. Designed by renowned golf course architect, Arthur Hills, as it provides a challenging, yet enjoyable, round of golf. Because our meticulously maintained course is surrounded by the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, our golfers’ experiences are enhanced by wildlife sightings and the beautiful scenery that only Mother Nature can provide. Since becoming a private Equity Club in November of 1999, the Club has continued to evolve and both the Club and its members have become an integral part of Sanibel and Captiva. Through annual events hosted by the Members and the Club, we have participated in raising contributions in both national and local charitable organizations, have numerous members volunteering for groups that promote education at the Sanibel School, as well as those who help make sure that the sea turtles don't get lost on their way to the sea from their nests every year. At The Sanctuary, you are always recognized by name – the entire staff knows each and every member. Members often gather socially, cultivating long-term friendships. We are proud to have achieved an atmosphere that is both warm and luxurious, both intimate and exclusive.

The Sanctuary has a legacy of expertise and know-how for protecting our rich, native environment, and sensitive ecosystem. From early on, Audubon International, the world’s leading golf environmental certification program, has designated The Sanctuary Golf Club a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. Much of the planning of the golf course involves protection of endangered species, maintenance of wildlife habitats, migratory routes, nesting sites, and food sources. In complement with Audubon International, The Sanctuary created a very strict regimen of maintenance practices to ensure long-term success.
"Members share this Sanctuary with hundreds of beautiful wildlife species. It’s one of the most incredible free range of natural habitats living in harmony found anywhere in the world."

- Ron Dobson, Audubon International
