Golf in Paradise

Our meticulously maintained Championship Course is surrounded by the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. The course weaves and winds for 6,657 yards around nature preserves and lakes, providing panoramic views of the Pine Island Sound and mangrove forests. On the course, Members encounter a wide variety of birds and exciting wildlife that inhabit The Sanctuary.

Hole #1

A slight dogleg left, this opening hole has ample room off the tee. The mounding to the right of the approach will help steer the running shot toward the green, while the large yawning bunker to the left will keep errant shots from entering the adjoining preservation area.

Arthur Hills

Arthur Hills summed it up best when he said, "We try to build a course that is natural, that relates to the land and doesn't require a tremendous amount of earth moving - always keeping in mind the strategy of the game and the elements that provide beauty in a golf course." Hills designed The Sanctuary Golf Course and completed construction in 1992, calling The Sanctuary his “island masterpiece” and, “elegant, exquisite, and rare.”
